{"id":45,"date":"2008-08-17T21:28:10","date_gmt":"2008-08-17T08:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rossmaxwell.co.nz\/?p=45"},"modified":"2008-08-17T21:29:37","modified_gmt":"2008-08-17T08:29:37","slug":"45","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rossmaxwell.co.nz\/?p=45","title":{"rendered":"The South Pole"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">Greetings All,<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">The next challenge is in motion.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">I have joined Antarctic Logistics &amp; Expeditions (ALE), <span>\u00a0<\/span>expedition to the South Pole and will meet with the other four expedition members in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Punta Arenas<\/st1:city>, <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\">Chile<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place>, around the 4<sup>th<\/sup> of November. <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">Kari from <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\">Norway<\/st1:country-region>, Tom from <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\">USA<\/st1:country-region>, Steven from <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\">Australia<\/st1:country-region>, myself and our leader Sarah McNair-Landry will fly as a group from <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Punta Arenas<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> into ALE\u2019s base at Patriot Hills on the Antarctic Continent and then be air lifted down to Hercules Inlet, our starting point on the Antarctic coast. The 1170km journey then begins. If all goes well we will arrive at the Geographic South Pole approx 60 days later.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">So folks, the training continues and lots to get organized.
